Airshow in Usman

From May 16 to 27, 2018, the Russian qualifying stage of the 9th series of the World Gliding Grand Prix was held in Usman, Lipetsk region, at the Usman-Sharshki airfield. This event has been held annually since 2005 and has the status of a World Cup. Pilots from different cities of Russia, as well as from the Czech Republic and Slovenia took part in competitions on non-motorized aircraft. The organizers of the competition, using technical capabilities and satellite imagery, allowed everyone to follow the pilots on the route - three-dimensional models of gliders on the monitor screen transmitted the position of the gliders in space, telemetry showed altitude and speed. The main surprise awaited the audience on May 27. On the closing day of the Air World Grand Prix, an air show was held with the participation of World champions in aerobatics on airplanes: 7-time absolute world champion in aerobatics Svetlana Kapanina; aerobatic group "First Flight", which includes 3 absolute world champions in different categories and one world champion in individual exercises. Two absolute glider aerobatics world champions. As well as helicopter pilots, aircraft modelers and parachutists.
